Pre-concert Lecture at the Church of St. Luke in the Fields

February 20, 2014: Antoni Pizà, director of the Foundation for Iberian Music, presented a pre-concert lecture at the Church of St. Luke in the Fields. The concert, performed by the church’s choir, was conducted by David Shuler, and was dedicated exclusively to sacred choral works by C.P da Palestrina (c.1525-1594). Known during his lifetime as the “Prince of Music,” and now widely considered to be one of the greatest composers of the 16th century, Professor Pizà’s lecture covered Palestrina’s relationship with Iberian music, especially with the great polyphonist Franscico de Morales.
